Some of the less reputable news agencies are calling them riots, claiming they are burning cars and breaking windows, but I see no video evidence of that. Major news, even Fox, just reports peaceful protests which do include burning effigies and also the flag, marching and chanting.
I'm glad it is staying peacful.
Are you in a blue state that is declaring him "Not my President"?
With all the calls for reconciliation, from Hillary, from Obama, etc, are they disrespecting our great nation, or standing up for it?
vigils and protests
I think the protests are kind of ridiculous, even if peaceful. Yes, I understand they're practicing their First Amendment rights to voice their displeasure (while we still can), but in the end any such protests are completely useless. The people have voted and while it didn't go the way most of us wanted, we have to stand by the electoral process or else throw the entire Constitution into the trash.
And frankly, if you're that displeased with the vote, then you should have voted and, assuming you did vote, you should have persuaded more people to vote for your candidate. And even if that wouldn't have worked, always remember there are mid-terms coming up in two years and another presidential election two years after that. If Trump turns out to be as terrible a president as everyone thinks he might be, then thankfully our Democratic process allows us to voice our displeasure with the government by changing it.
