The murder rate in the USA has been trending downward the whole time that the hours spent playing video games has trended upwards. This has not been affected by the increased realism of first-person shooters or other violent games. As someone else already pointed out, virtually every form of media has been attacked in the past because it was having a dangerous effect on the minds of children. You know which video game had the biggest impact on crime rates in the USA? The one called "STOP PUTTING LEAD IN YOUR FUCKING GASOLINE, ASSHOLES."
Oh, right... that wasn't a video game.

"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
