Mark has Christ dying around 9AM on the day Passover. [2]
That's why I think Christ was crucified twice. It's the ONLY way to make sense of the Gospels. [3]
It doesn't seem like a problem to me, the Romans wanted to make good and sure they killed him. Do it twice, and there is no doubt.
It clears up another problem too, one time they used 3 nails to put Jesus on the cross, the other time they used 4 nails.
I'm so happy to have cleared up that mystery for everyone.
1) True (John has Jesus sentenced by Pilate around noon - John 19:14-16)
2) False (Mark has Jesus crucified at 9 am, but dying after noon.)
Mark 15:25 - "It was nine o'clock in the morning when they crucified him."
Mark 15:33-37 - "At noon darkness came over the whole land until three in the afternoon. And at three o'clock Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lema sabachthani?" . . . Jesus gave a loud cry and breathed his last.
3) I'd rethink that hypothesis.

In Mark, Jesus somehow survives that [2] and gets to have the Passover meal with the disciples [3], is arrested and taken to jail and tried first thing in the morning and executed at 9AM. On Passover. [4]
Remember, there is a sunset involved, after sunset is the 'next day'. It's an easy mistake to make. [5]
Jesus was crucified twice, obviously.
1) Correct
2) No, you're severely confused.
3) Yes, Jesus celebrates HIS passover meal a full day EARLY, on the "day of preparation". The gospels are ALL clear that the day of Jesus's death is the day of preparation.
4) None of the Gospels report his passing on the Sabbath. ALL of them report his dying on the "day of preparation", as I just documented.
5) Exactly. Each Gospel says that Jesus dies on the day of Preparation. Jesus can't die on Passover, if he's already dead on the day of preparation. He celebrated HIS passover at the very beginning of the day of Preparation (a radical move). Later that night, he is arrested. Early in the morning he is brought to Pilate. Mark says he is sentenced and nailed to the cross by 9 AM. John says that isn't until noon. BOTH Mark and John say that he dies around 3 PM ON THE DAY OF PREPARATION.

Just remember the days change at sunset.
You know, the church probably should have stuck to that tradition. Then you'd also be doing mass on the right day of the week too. Honoring the Sabbath, and all that. I think there's a commandment on that too . . .
1) Here's your problem. What do you think of Mark 15:42?, right after Jesus dies on the cross - "When it was already evening, since it was the day of preparation, the day before the sabbath"
