You commit a violent crime, you do the time to insure societal safety, regardless of whether or not you are forgiven by anyone. We are called to forgive all ppl, even if they are not sorry for what they have done. that doesn't mean we release dangerous ppl back into the street where they can continue to hurt other innocent ppl.
You're trying to spin this into some sort of hypocrisy when it's not.
No search for hypocrisy. I am sincerely curious as to how people think about this issue. I imagined that most Christians would be pragmatic about this scenario.
