Millennials are being blamed for living in a world where they're spared many of the hardships that previous generations have experienced. To me, that's ridiculous. We've progressed, made living less hazardous and that's a good thing! The way millennials react to violence, bullying etc. are how we should all react to such things; it's previous generations who have the problems (including mine). You call them pussies but isn't it better that they don't experience oppression, violence, intolerance or exclusion? Of course they won't have robust coping mechanisms for such things but that's good! It's an indicator that society is becoming less oppressive, less violent, less intolerant, more inclusive. Do you want your children or grandchildren to have a tougher, more hazardous life? Because that's what you're advocating by making such statements.
I think that we've become differently oppressive, intolerant, and exclusionary - and at the same time more capable in each case. I'm a millennial myself, caught the early edge of it. I think that trigger warnings are silly, but that doesn't have anything to do with what I want for my children (nor do I blame my generation for their reactions to scenes of hardships spared to them).
Personally, I'd prefer that my children turn out hard as a coffin nail no matter how soft a pillow they find themselves sleeping on. Mommy gives them the hugs, I provide a different service.
@Min - Chemically assisted apathy is pretty much a defining trait of my generation. We're pretty good at it without the drugs too, lifetime of practice.
