It's just habitual.  I think it used to amuse me, but now I don't even look.  Is that the sort of purpose you're talking about, when positing a purposeful universe, or a necessity of purpose in intelligently designed things?

I don;t think that gravity is a result of a coincidental random chance occurrence.   I think that's it's the effect of the curvature of spacetime caused by the uneven distribution of mass, gravity can be plotted and predicted mathematically and so I'm not sure what sense it makes to describe it as a "result of a coincidental random chance occurrence" regardless of whether or not the universe is intelligently designed?
