We've been through this before but, I went and checked three different translation and the word evil is better translated as calamity. You should get yourself a different translation. You should. have gone on and read verses 9,10 and 11.

I'm unsure that the translation of the word as 'calamity' improves the theists' case. The Italian hotel recently buried in the avalanche certainly qualifies as a calamity, but it is also an example of what is called 'natural evil', that is to say an occurrence which visits great harm on blameless people, and does so without a human agency involved. To wit: Since humans didn't cause the avalanche, it was a natural occurrence. Since believers tend to credit God as the creator and sustainer of the natural world, this disaster falls squarely into God's camp.
So, the verse from Isaiah, whether the translation of the word in question is 'calamity' or 'evil', still puts the onus on theists to explain why God routinely destroys innocent people when he could just as easily not destroy them.
