One should never take their child's claiming transsexualism as anything less than a mental illness that features tremendous association with social awkwardness. Combating that social awkwardness by encouraging self-love and practice while they're young will improve their chances at making it in the world regardless, and >may< even see gender dysphoria evaporate as they find a comfortable place in the world to be themselves within their natural gender (take with grain of salt, unproven hypothesis).
Any way you slice it, completely entertaining gender dysphoria from the very moment it is claimed has incredible potential to screw up a confused kid for life.
