Well, then that would be yet another instance where the Scriptures are wrong. Homosexuality is observed in nature in a great number of species.
A short list of animals that engage in homosexuality:
American bison - male/male sex, including anal sex
Elephants - male/male long term relationships, including mounting
Polecats - male/male sex, including anal sex
Penguins - female/female and male/male
Giraffes - male/male sex, including anal sex
Bonobo chimps - our closest relatives, male/male and female/female sex
Bottle nose dolphins - male/male and female/female sex, including females using their snout in the sex organs of another female, then swimming gently forward.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
