It's not an election for a president, but for parties who can then form coalitions, so I guess as always Angela Merkel's CDU or the SPD will get the most votes but often not enough to govern alone. The AfD might get an appreciable percentage (but nowhere near a majority) and will become part of the opposition in parliament because none of the other parties will cooperate with them. Both the SPD and CDU will then try to find an ally among the other parties to form a government, and if that doesn't work the CDU and SPD will form a "big coalition". The big question is whether Schulz's popularity will put and end to the SPD's vale of tears they've been in for the last decade and boost their numbers enough to enable them to become part of a strong majority e.g. with the green party, or alone, and dethrone Angie. I still don't believe it will happen, but at least they have a chance.
