But the fact is, he invited her to a political event with the intention of making mention. If he simply wanted to pay tribute and bestow honor (as if he could add a scintilla of honor to Chief Owens's sacrifice), then the President could have paid a private visit to her.

If it's possible you're wrong then you can't be sure it's actually what you think it is.  All you know is, if it's connected to President Trump, you don't like it.

Nonsense. As a veteran, I object to politicians of any stripe wearing the sacrifices of military members as political points. It offends my sensibilities and demeans their sacrifices.

So what. He invited her to be present at his speech to Congress so he could publicly pay tribute to her husband, Chief Owen. As other presidents did before him, he publicly bestowed honor on a fallen military service member. You may take issue with it but many others don't.

Well, of course others don't mind. Thanks for that news flash. Now back to my regularly-scheduled programming.

Personally, if I were in her position, I'd probably have attended also. Trump may be near the top of the most shittiest-person-alive stack, but he still is the president. From her perspective, I fail to see this as a political thing rather for her it seems like a chance to remember and honor her lost loved one and possibly find some support during her moment of grief.

Those who are giving her crap for this are real assholes.

No doubt her motivation was purer than Trump's. I have no criticism of her decision.
