To see what you're talking about I just did some improvised dabbling based on the piece above modulating from C major via E major (0:22) to the parallel A minor (0:25), and noodling through the standard cadence a d E for a minute and then back to key C via the usual scheme. It doesn't exactly sound like hair metal yet
