FWIW, I had a pager for the last 14 years of employ and could be summoned to work if it was a dire enough problem. I usually managed to talk the worriers off the ledge long enough that I could wait until my regular time to show up again. But many a meal and vacation had been disrupted by it. They even had my cell phone number, because I got paged while driving home and called from it. Those guys had no boundaries. If they tried to call me directly with out a page, and left a message, it could be overnight or even days before I responded, since it was for emergencies only and was left turned off to conserve battery power, which I told them.
