I've been watching it from the start and really like the show and easily recommend it. It's not hard sci-fi but there is more than enough realism to keep a science nerd like myself happy.
p.s. I've not read the books and I've had to do a little reading on the side to keep track of all the politics and groups involved in the show. The Expanse Wiki and some episode review sites were helpful.
