It's like wearing the confederate flag. To some people it's merely a flag that represents the Southern states, and they wear it because they are from the South. But to many people it means slavery, so why would anyone wear it?

That's completely beside the point. The point is, why wear something that will purposely put off a large # of people? Even if it doesn't mean anything bad to you, it does to many people.
