Uhm... That's because this is Europe, not 'Murrica - pretty much everyone's views on economics are "right there with Sanders". Or rather - that's where Sanders got his ideas from. If you think this is something special - you have no idea what you're talking about.
The "considerable opposition to Le Pen" stems from the fact that she's a neo-fascist and a nut-job. Not that misogyny isn't a thing, mind you, but if you think she lost 35% to 65% simply because she has a vagina - you're out of your mind.

Maybe allow Canada in . . .
Yeah - you have no idea what you're talking about.
One of the main reasons for Brexit is isolationism - if May (or whoever wins the election) tries to sell the idea of joining another EU to the half of the country, that voted "Leave" - they will throw a fit. France has a large - and growing - population of Muslims and - in the minds of Leavers - they all want to cross the Channel and settle over here. All the while - the other half of the country would be mortified by the thought of joining ranks with someone like Le Pen. Your idea is a non-starter, at least until both UK and France end up in some deep financial, or political crisis - and even then it would take years for isolationists to drop their naive ideas of "independence".
