I'm not an MD, but I have questions, and some thoughts.
Since some pedophiles were molested as children, I wonder if
a. It is hereditary
b. Molestation causes changes to the brain
You have nature and nurture that result in the make up of adult humans.
I could make a case for heredity, since the template for a person's physical make up gets laid down via genetics.
If a tumor can damage part of the brain and cause these symptoms, maybe some other physical and/or psychological stressors can cause it as well?
I will agree completely that once a pedophile offends, isolation from children should be enforced for the rest of that person's life. Doesn't mean incarceration, necessarily, just an environment where they have no access. It seems like they could be productive members of society, if kept away from victims. I just don't know the answer, there. If there was a definite genetic link, would/should we go the eugenics route, and not let a known pedophile reproduce? NOTE: I am asking for discussion purposes; I don't generally hold with eugenics, though I will say that if I had a debilitating genetic defect that I could pass on to my children, I would not reproduce. Life's tough enough without setting a person up for trouble from the start.

If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
