OP, most of us, when we say we don't believe in god mean that we do not accept the existence of any god simply on the word of it's believers. Nor do we accept the universe or any of it's constituent parts to be any type of god(s).
Having said that, most of us are very open to the presentation of testable, verifiable evidence in support of god claims. There just hasn't been any presented (no, the buy-bull and other holy texts are not evidence, they're the claim).
