Quote:The worst charity in America operates from a metal warehouse behind a gas station in Holiday, Fla.
Every year, Kids Wish Network raises millions of dollars in donations in the name of dying children and their families.
Every year, it spends less than 3 cents on the dollar helping kids.
Most of the rest gets diverted to enrich the charity’s operators and the for-profit companies Kids Wish hires to drum up donations.
who do you trust?
And pouring money into nations wracked by civil war virtually assures that people looking to buy bullets will get the lion's share of what arrives. I don't have an answer for this issue. Almost everything that someone does makes the problem worse.
The land cannot support the population. Thanks to the WLB and his climate hoax mentality this is only going to get worse.
At least the boxes are useful.
I use charity navigator to investigate charities. I also view their 990 forms online if I'm giving a sizable donation. Sadly, US domestic charities may be on the radar, but when money goes overseas, it's very difficult to track.
I did review your example charity from Holiday, Florida. I was hoping that there was some kind of misunderstanding that lead to an undeserved bad reputation, but to my horrified shock, they are indeed actually reporting donations of +14M and they're only using +3M for services. An appropriate overhead cost for a charity of that size is 15 - 20%. Carrying a 76% overhead takes some serious balls. Thanks for the tip on that. I'm inclined to be lazy about my research if I'm just giving a small donation, but my guard is back up now.
