By virtue of the fact that the Book of Mormon exists in English, we have solid, tangible proof that I can physically show you that the plates were indeed buried in Joseph Smith's backyard and that Joseph Smith translated them to English. Even the Mormon church admits Joseph Smith's 'translation' of the supposed Book of Abraham isn't kosher. And nonLDS scholars have noted Smith's 'translation' is untenable since he generates pages of text from each individual hieroglyph which 'everyone else' realizes represents a word . . . .
