Since I met you here I have always liked you and STILL DO.

But unless you want to tell me what you mean by "conservative" I have nothing to compare it to.

I can only respond to what I have seen with the history of that word. Now if you think I have it wrong, define it to me according to what you think it is or should be. 

My long term observation of those who call themselves that, have been those who vote for both the wrong side of social and economic history. 

I do not value religious bigotry.
I do not value Wall Street always having the last say.
I do not value having to make up for tax breaks for billionaires who don't need them.
I do not value climate change or evolution denial.


Now you think I am wrong, fine. Your next post should be define for you what you think it is or want it to be.

I am only basing my response to a long term social use of that word to the economic and religious right. 

If you survey BOTH democrats and republicans and ask them which  party the word "conservative" most likely refers to, I doubt most would say "democrat".

True, the word is not usually used to describe a democrat. I use it basically because I:

1. don't believe in helping people who are not at least willing to help themselves.
2. Believe that some help is offered to weaken people and make them dependent. So I don't favor every politician who gets up there talking about helping the poor.
3.Don't spend money just because I have it.
4. Believe in getting a return on my investment. Even if it's just bringing joy into someone's life. But not for someone to build long term plans around me helping them. "Let me go on and buy this living room set. Rhonda will help me pay my rent." Oh, hell to the no I won't.

As for taxing the rich Why should they get a free ride? It used to be the rich played a vital role in society. Philanthropists sponsoring artists and the arts and sciences. Concentrated wealth supporting new technologies until the prices came down. They don't do that anymore.
