Heaven is the state of being when your heart is completely pure. If you have darkness in your heart you will be in Purgatory until you have reached the state of perfect grace. Hell is when you have no will to reach it, and so you never do (hence why we say Hell is permanent).
So of course, I believe Hell/Purgatory can happen to anyone regardless of religious title. It just depends on what's in your heart.
A lot of Catholics don't believe in Purgatory; they consider it to be a medieval myth. I know that you'll quote the CCC on this, but Francis is going to revise that here soon, and so, Purgatory is likely to go the route that the Limbo of the Children went.

This sounds a lot like high Calvinism where Calvin taught that some individuals who perish in infancy were predestined to life eternal while others were predestined to perdition.

1/2 of number one and 1/2 of 2. Because that is all that is consistent with a contextual reading. Calvinism is a hoge podge of verses fragments compiled to form a cherry picked religion.
I say Jesus makes the choice of who is and is not, because that is what the bible says. and it is not based on what we say but our hearts. Calvin leaves out that bit.

See, this is the problem. The silence is purely because you did it wrong, or you gave up too soon, or couldn't/didn't want to get an answer. A/S/K always works; the proof that it does is that different people get completely different results, including none at all. Glory!
I have yet to meet one person who followed the example and get nothing at all. Not one. I have meet many people who only do the first two and get nothing all the time. What do any of you expect if God says do 123 and you get ABC, if you only do 1 and 2 but not three?
