I never said I don't like Jesus.
I have no feeling either way.
That is like saying because I do not believe in the Easter Bunny (tooth fairy, santa, ect) that I dislike them.
When my son's ask why I am an atheist, I'll tell them that once I saw through the farce, I just could not unsee it.
I really do not want to push them either way.
My main goal is to guide them to be self sufficient, well adjusted, productive members of society.
If they believe in god that is fine, if they don't that is fine to.
Just be honest about Yahweh with them. The bloodthirsty genocidal psychopath that no one has any business lying to them about. That'll kill the illusion pretty fucking quick and you'll have done nothing but told them the truth. Might scar them for life in the process depending on which stories you read them...
I don't remember much about Jesus being a bloodthirsty genocidal psychopath.
I do remember the general theme of the sermon on the mount.
"Do unto others as you would have done unto you." I don't think Jesus was the first to say this but arguably he is credited with popularizing the idea.
I will agree that people have done some pretty terrible things in his name, but i am not sure that who ever Jesus was is responsible. My understanding is that there were quite a few messiahs wondering around Israel around 0 AD.
I am of the opinion that the Jesus we know through the gospels is a merger of several people.
