And for the record, the Catholic Church PERMITS belief in the theory of evolution AS LONG AS the Catholic believes Adam and Eve were the first human beings infused with a SOUL.

IOW, it doesn't permit belief in evolution at all. It permits it's believers to -call- their superstitious beliefs evolution™.
Actually evolutionary biology tells us that there was no and could be no original breeding pair of adam and eve from which we all descend, and that we are not the product of some intelligent design.
