Okay, here's my take on it:
- There are 20 options on the wheel
- There were 3 spins.
- There were a total of 20 to the power of 3 (8000) possible permutations of three spins of the wheel.
- According to IMDb, there are a total of 8461 episodes filmed since 1972.
- During my cursory research, I discovered the Showcase Showdown (which houses the big wheel) only started appearing in 1975.
- There are usually more than three spins per game.
- Apparently, the odds of a perfect score in two spins is about the same as it is on one.
Also, I discovered it has happened before:
And apparently, if Bob's right about this [and I'm not sure if he is; if Bob Eubanks' memory can fail him about the "in the ass" segment of the Newlywed Game happening in spite of the segment existing, it shows old game show hosts have a faillible memory], this happened once before this, making a total of three times in the show's run.
If anything, it's probably biased (if only slightly) in favor of a three-way tie for a perfect score.
Comparing the Universal Oneness of All Life to Yo Mama since 2010.
