If he doesn't want to, then all the priesthood is working against god.
And worse, "Worship me or I shall smite thee" says god. No matter how one frames it, it is dei-thuggery.
Then you have the deists, who claim some god created everything and just forgot, or something.
Add in the presuppositionalists, who claim that you really believe not only in god, but their particular flavour of god, you are simply in denial of whichever god. The list goes on and I am unsure which one annoys me more. Is god a pan-galactic thug only able to demand respect by means of menaces? Or a god who really can't be arsed? Or perhaps a Chopra style deepity, or outright solipsism, or brains in a vat, or some other mad and unevidenced proposal.
Just as a sampler, on another site, a member used Tarot cards to make predictions. The guy/girl really swallows this crap. There is a running tally of hits/misses. One of the predictions was that Trump would launch a nuclear strike on NorKor in September 2017. Do you hear that squeak? That would be the goalposts actually sprinting. There is no hoop he/she would not leap through to maintain faith in whatever he/she believes.
