Just because we'd become convinced doesn't mean we know for 100%. Just that it would become justified belief. So we could of course still have reached a wrong conclusion even if something miraculous occurred, there's no need for absolute certainty to get involved, which is how it sounds the way you're describing.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?
