Actually, you are only partially correct. The investigation started a few years before the trump campaign started, but has clearly continued well into 2017. The indictments that came over the weekend are just the start of what is to come. With two men being indited and another turning himself in and pleading guilty, I'd say we're in for quite a long show.
Clearly we don't know everything that's going on behind closed doors or within the confines of the courthouse, so all anyone can really do at this point is just speculate about what they think will happen.
