Standards by ignorance cannot be equated to standards by knowledge. Some human standards remain on the nature of God which he originated humanity upon and others not so much.
Revelations are all about getting our compass back through getting us to reflect. When begin to follow words of it without understanding, we get ISIS, etc...
Interpretation is easy to a sincere heart, but us corrupt souls need help from people we know have been purified and chosen for the task of guidance.
That is why Quran doesn't say "ALL" would have followed Iblis without revelation and guidance from him, but only a few would not have.
Revelation is not to say finding the light and door and guidance is impossible without revelation, it is just saying it is so highly improbable for most of us because of the corruption and the weakness on our part.
Quran is about clarifying what it means to be human. That is one way of looking at it. In that lies knowledge of God, the path, etc...
