That I understand. The point of a half-mast flag is to show a sign that something unusual (and usually very sad) has happened. The thing is, these national tragedies are happening so often that there's hardly any time to get them back to full staff. And they keep coming...
Seriously, when this gets added to Mother Jones' list of American mass shootings, This will be the first time we've had four of these incidents in the space of 30 days. And we came close to this, with four mass shootings in the span of 33 days in May-June of this year. This is the new normal now.
