RE: Ex-Christians: How do you lose your fear of hell?

It's as simple as this:
The concept of Hell is the most evil thing imaginable. If we live in a universe created and ruled by a cretin so evil as to come up with something like Hell, we are fucked. It doesn't matter if you bow down and suck his dick or not. Do you really think a being so evil it would torture people for eternity for the trivial crime of not believing in him would be kind to you if you did suck his dick? Why? It is evil!
In the Christian worldview, we are created beings, created by God - an all-knowing creature. If God is all-knowing, he KNEW our fate when he created us! If he knew we were destined to Hell (which he created) then why create us in the first place?!
The concept of Hell is absurd. God is punishing people for behaving in ways he KNEW they would behave when he created them! It's as if I built a car with a wooden dowel for a steering rod KNOWING it would fail at some point and then blaming the driver for the resultant accident! It's not the driver's fault! I gave him a car I KNEW was unsafe. The accident is on ME!
Sleep like a baby, KiwiNFLFan. You're good - at least when it comes to life. You being an NFL fan is another matter. Even then though. you need not worry about a tortuous afterlife. You still should concern yourself with the consequences of playing American Football in this life. But that's another story.
