Are you speaking of the "Golden Rule"? Do you not realise that jesus plagiarised that from pre-existing laws such as the Hammurabi code, which itself plagiarised other traditions predating jesus by thousands of years? Jesus was simply regurgitating an ancient tradition that was prevalent in his own time. Hillel even espoused it long before jesus turned up. It had only been around for thousands of years before jesus was even born. How is that any sort of divine revelation?
I dont see how or why it makes a difference if Jesus was reiterating a moral standard that already existed. With that being said, I was referring to this line specifically:
"Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you."
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."
