It's offensive in any occasion. Saying it on twitter is saying it in public because Natives see it.
Out of 7 billion humans, I think it is a bit of a stretch to expect others to never offend each other. HAVING SAID THAT, the west evolved to be less violent because politicians in the west WHEN THEY CHOOSE TO BE, have learned they have the role of diplomat and a different standard than that of the private sector.
Yes even in the private sector it is a shitty thing to say, but it is gas on the fire when a politician does it and comments like his are toxic in political diplomacy.
Those very same soldiers fought a horrible politician who rose to power using the politics of scapegoating and vilifying rivals. 45 proves day after day and tweet after tweet how divisive and dangerous he is to western values. The idiot does not seem to understand he is no longer a private citizen.
Mitt regretted his 47% comment. Hillary regretted her "deplorable" comment. But neither of them went day after day attacking MULTIPLE groups, races, religions, intel and media. McCain when he ran didn't talk like 45. Bush Jr, nor Sr nor Reagan conducted their politics like Trump has.
If anyone says "Trump has the right" and or "Well it worked", those are missing the point and failing to learn the lessons of history.
Trump is beyond politics now. He is beyond politics as usual. He is on a very dangerous path and in the end if more politicians see his tactic of scapegoating as a winning formula, you will see eventually the end of political pluralism. No, it doesn't have to happen, but to assume it will not is where the false sense of security can hurt us long term. Only partaking in using your own voice, only voting at every level, and speaking out every day, that is the only thing that protects a free society, not apathy, not assuming.
Natives were here long before Europeans came over. Andrew Jackson was a horrible man who committed Genocide out of revenge on Natives. It is not only insulting to both Vets and Natives who fought in WW2. It is dangerous to forget that those Natives fought a horrible man who got an entire nation to murder 6 million Jews via the politics of scapegoating. It is an insult to human decency and should be insulting to all humans, to forget this is to eventually repeat it.
