While I am for a free press and for free speech, I will say we have had a flood of garbage for decades. Long before Jerry Springer you had Morton Downey, then the rise in popularity of "reality TV" with garbage like "The Real World". WWE , tabloid magazines, and crappy networks like "Farts News".
NO, you are not going to get rid of all of it. But all that cheap quick satisfaction I really do think has created a very shallow political environment.
I do however see more and more getting tired of this.
You know I actually watched Monday Night Raw (WWE) for a while a few months ago. It was actually ok and less about shock value than it was in the early 2000's.
But yeah Trump is garbage. He's done nothing worthy of admiration. I never cared to watch "The Apprentice."

He didn't.
The incompetent fool got some 19.4 percent of the country to vote for him.
Clinton got 20.3%.
The remaining 60.3% were either too old or too young... or were ineligible to vote because they'd been in prison on some trumped up drug offence.
This low turn-out, btw, the keen-eyed will have noticed, is the weakness in the gerrymandering tactic.
It's a good point that people shouldn't be looked in a cage for putting what they want in their body. Drugs should be decriminalized but regulated. The most dangerous ones should still be illegal. Maybe provide a safer alternative.
If someone has addiction which is a medical issue, not a criminal issue, perhaps they should be forced into treatment. But I think jailing people for that only hardens them, and maybe even forces people who aren't bad people into gangs for protection.
