The trouble is that the search begins and ends there..because there's nowhere else for it to go.
Here's an interesting thing to consider. What we see in the "categories of paul" - regardless of any bickering over the historicity of any of them (loose or hard).
The radical jewish christian of "early Paul" is transformed into the romanized christian throughout the next two, and romanized heroes need their own "Labors of Hercules"- thus, Acts.
