That seems like a more reasonable approach than having them anyway and expecting the rest of society to pay for them.
The time to have that discussion is whenever society stops paying for you. Honestly, this is why we can never expect "reasonable" healthcare reform, or even a reasonable discussion on healthcare reform, from the right wing. Only a new cruelty.
