It sounds like you've only just scratched the surface of Freud. You can spend all the time you want reading and researching Freud and you will still be 100 years behind on modern psychology when you're all done. If you want a historical perspective on the field then that is great. If you actually want to talk on a serious level I would concentrate on research and findings from the last 20 years, as a rough guide.
