Not at all. Christians don't have a monopoly on the vested power of magical or sacred objects...they don't even have a lock on the cross market. Like everything else christain..that was borrowed. The crucifixion of christ either knowingly or unwittingly plays on pagan themes. The romans didn;t just crucify people for practical purposes..there was a ritual significance to that particular punishment which predated jesusism or it's use in political intimidation.
Being a christain is to believe in christ, not in crosses. Conveniently, this is why charges of idolatry or paganism are bandied about between sects as regards crucifixes and magic books in the first place. Whereas some lay the charge that elevating magic book to be the effective object of worship is the bad thing, others criticize the entirely similar elevation of trinkets, relics, and torture fetish bric a brac.
