As I’ve recently discovered, it seems the whole of ethics is just commentary on one question: “how dare you worry about your selfish needs and desires when you can worry about someone else’s selfish needs and desires?” And it would appear that this is the generation that brings this into sharp relief and doesn’t even bother to dress it up in the language of the greater good
Or universal rights or anything like that. Answer selfishness with selfishness. Or the sort of Mutual oppression that would make Ellsworth Toohey proud and why the fuck has the world degenerated itself to the point where Ayn Rand starts to seem like a decent point of reference? Well, at least it’s not Atlas Shrugged, so At least I haven’t totally taken leave of my senses.
