A publisher bought the rights to a paper a psychologist wrote about the relationship between gun ownership and other kinds of dependencies, like alcohol. The prof was pleased with the size of the check but wasn't perceptive to notice that the agreement he signed required him to submit all similar papers to the same attorney in the future. It was legal, he went off and found something else to look at.
