Safety. If the people in a room are, for whatever reason, incapacitated, emergency response couldn't get to them. Two immediate examples I can think of are carbon monoxide poisoning (a frequent occurrence in New England during the winter with poorly maintained and/or ventilated heating systems) and science classroom issues (fires, explosions, chemical spills/issues, etc.).
Simple enough, have a master override switch. The doors would only be one way in emergencies. And the officer could open them all with one command. And the top windows would be able to be opened.
