Shame on me to always assume our friends from the north are all English speaking. I mean, I know in Quebec it's mainly French, but for some reason, I just don't associate any of our friends here, with coming from any of the French speaking Providences.French is my second language because my father was a french speaker (didn't know a word of english)
Well, I like learning new things.
Inuktitut is the language spoken at home . And it's totally alien to english. Punctuation especially. For example
English- "Bloody agnostics, always fence sitting!"
Inuktitut- "Bᓪoody ᐊᒡᓐoᔅᑎcᔅ ᐊᓪwᐊyᔅ feᓐce ᓯᑦᑎᖕ!"
Hell we had to add latin letters and symbols to make it so moderately knowledgeable non inuit could even read it .
Further there is the fact that a symbol can mean a whole word or a sound
ᕉ-ruu
ᓲ-suu
ᒫ-maa
ᑳ-kaa
ᖐ-ngii
ᖒ-nguu
ᕃ-Rai
ᑳ
