I really wish I knew.

Clinton wasn't a "piss poor candidate". She won the nomination. I voted for her happily. I think she would have been an extremely good president.

She was brilliant.  She would have been magnificent.  BUT she would have had a pissed off Republican Congress, and they would have fought her every second of every day.
And the misogynists and Hillary haters would have burned her effigy in the streets.  So now we have a racist, misogynist, nationalistic, illiterate, moronic Putin's puppet would-be-dictator in the White House.  

The good thing about this is that all of the racists and misogynists and theocrats and traitors and his billionaire rape-the-country cabinet and cronies are all showing their true colors and letting their freak flag fly.  What was hidden is now spattered all over the media for all to see.  And the younger members of our population are outraged.  They have been WOKE, mobilized, energized, and they will be voting.  It's horribly painful but we might have needed this.

I am seriously counting on this, or my faith in humanity will be lost forever. There is so much riding on it. I am already an ostrich with my head in the sand. I can't fathom what has become of us as it is. If this is allowed to continue, well, fuck everyone and everything. And quite honestly, nothing surprises me anymore so I am half expecting it to happen.

Large segments of the American public can't deal with change . So they run screaming to the nearest cult leader who promises them a nostalgic fantasy and a return to "the good ol days ". Then said cult leader will point to events that have nothing to do with him and take credit for them .

Clinton would have been nearly exactly the same president as Obama was.
