So? Everyone is glad it was not worse. Not the point.
It STILL amounts to an ease of access problem.

Easy to say what you would do when you are not in the moment yourself. That guy was by himself at first. The killer out armed him. And he had said that he thought the shooting was going on outside too. He wasn't sure where it was happening. Sound bounces off of everything and acoustics can give you a false perception of the actual direction it is coming from.
There was a former military guy at the Oregon college shooting with a legal carry permit, and he didn't go in either.
Even outside mass shootings, like 9/11, people called the firemen brave for going up. I'd agree but there were experts after the fact that said they should have not done that knowing the heat and melting of the pillars.
Point is, you were not there. I am sure that responder wanted to do more, but I think you are jumping to conclusions as to why he didn't go in.
With firearms, what America IS NOT DOING, is making it about prevention. I am sick and tired of the worshipers saying "Don't blame us, just keep them out of the wrong hands," then when we agree they shout "NO".
Arming more people IS NOT the solution.
