AKA "The Middle East".
That is the sad path that most Middle Eastern Islamic institutions took from a very long time. Verses like this one were almost forgotten:
Quote:Sura 60, The Quran:
( 7 ) Perhaps Allah will put, between you and those to whom you have been enemies among them, affection. And Allah is competent, and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
( 8 ) Allah does not forbid you from those who do not fight you because of religion and do not expel you from your homes - from being righteous toward them and acting justly toward them. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly.
( 9 ) Allah only forbids you from those who fight you because of religion and expel you from your homes and aid in your expulsion - [forbids] that you make allies of them. And whoever makes allies of them, then it is those who are the wrongdoers.
Verses like verse "8" of Sura "60" don't bring gold or allow for waging wars against the innocent from other faiths.
Other tones were needed to keep on beating the drums of war for the sake of the Sultans and Kings. Little by little, the Middle East turned into the hell it is today.

BTW, the Christians have a torture story for us if we end up believing in Allah, and that doesn't scare us. You're going to have to do better... something like evidence that your god exists.
It always amazes me just how much the theists seem to really get into the descriptions of torture for those who disagree with them.
It is a sign of a very sick mind, if you ask me.
As a Muslim; it's a revelation from a higher entity to me. Let's be honest: if you have more experience -let's say you work at a morgue or in a similar field-, you'll see all kinds of fatalities and gore. The descriptions of hell won't be something outlandish to you.
The point is; the description of suffering serves a goal. I do know for sure that there are humans who get burned to crisp in our lifetime, get torn to pieces in our lifetime, nations even are proud to teach their kids how to inflict gore on others and call it "military honor".
At least God is saying it explicitly. Unlike the human soldier who condemns me as "sick" for talking about an entity that burns many people in an afterlife, while he -the soldier- drops Napalm on me when I turn my face away. I call it "a promise yet to come"; he calls it "orders". Nonetheless; the bastard burns me now !! God feeds me now on the other hand.
Humans are monsters. They are the demons if you think about it.
