On the other hand, the same people who do this to others may not apply such fault finding and criticism to themselves in similar situations and may excuse their conduct as being a "matter of circumstances". Hence, when observing others who are behaving negatively, why can't it be quick and natural to consider the possibility that that particular individual may be having an "off day"and/or is experiencing tough circumstances, and on the whole, he or she may indeed be a reasonable, rational, and decent person? Has it become so easy for people to find fault in others while excusing those same faults in themselves when they are in similar situations?
I've also wondered to myself....... what about all those times when someone who generally behaves badly starts behaving really nice, how come no one then says "You're showing your true colors. This nice person is the real you."?

Well, with your online status being hidden, they would not have known you were looking at theirs at the same time. That makes it less humorous than both of you being weirded out by it.
It is amusing indeed.
Not sure how it's ironic though, lol.
