Well, because I don’t want to ever cease to exist. That notion cripples me. I don’t want to have a ‘last time’ that I’ll ever see my parents, or my husband, or my babies. I’d much rather believe they we’ll all be with each other forever in a loving, safe place after death. I know I’m basically alone in this sentiment here at AF, lol. I’m not at all ashamed to admit it though.
This is good, but it's selfish reason to want God to exist. In my mysticism perspective, we have to love God for it's own sake. That it is, you should want the being to exist because you find it would be the greatest thing to exist and that you want it to exist for it's own sake, whether it benefits you or it doesn't.
This is what depressed me most when I stop believing. I even wrote it about here in a thread, that I was so happy for God's sake that it existed, and when I believed it didn't, it hurt me like crazy.
More then people dying and disappearing for good.
And if you can understand that love for that being itself, you are on the way to seeing you have a connection to that being's existence which drives you to know it, and the connection is called in this world "love" on your part, so all you got to do is connect through that through the connection to God.
Your part of the connection is love. And I hope you are underway to see God through that vision.
