Oh I definitely do lol.
Not at the moment though Since my assessment I'm actually glad to wake up in the morning Less self-disappointment going on now!
I wish there were a good God so it may one day come out of the shadows and actually fix the world.
I don't wanna live forever. But I sometimes wish I could live for, say, a few thousand years maybe. Or maybe a few hundred. I'm sure I'd get bored eventually.
Now a real heaven to go to, that was really heavenly? I'd want that forever, of course.
Not some talking to God crap though lol. That isn't heavenly.
And I'd 100% plug into the experience machine. But I'd want everyone else to plug in too.

Well, because I don’t want to ever cease to exist. That notion cripples me. I don’t want to have a ‘last time’ that I’ll ever see my parents, or my husband, or my babies. I’d much rather believe they we’ll all be with each other forever in a loving, safe place after death. I know I’m basically alone in this sentiment here at AF, lol. I’m not at all ashamed to admit it though.
You're not alone. I'd want that too. I can't see why anyone wouldn't.
I definitely don't fear death though (there's literally nothing to fear). I'd just prefer it if awesomeness went on forever after death instead of absolutely nothing lol.

I totally understand that. I think it's probably quite natural in fact. If I wasn't depressed, maybe I'd feel something akin to that.
This wouldn't necessarily require any "God", though. It's just that the two ideas have been married in religion as part of the carrot. We could theoretically happen to go to some awesome place after we die, and get to be with everyone again. It doesn't make any sense, but neither does a God (as usually described)!
Edit: on a personal fantasy note, I do in fact have an overwhelming, painful desire to live in a reality that I have full control over. But short of that, I find the idea of existing forever to be horrifying. I know I'm highly abnormal though.

Quote:think it may be because you don't hear much from atheists who merely lack belief,
Your talking to them everyday
Quote:since I assume they tend to be the ones who dont say anything about it.
Activity does not imply one does not lack belief . Lacking belief does not mean being passive . Or never talking about why one does not find the case compelling . That's silly .
Quote:The ones you hear from are the ones who actively disbelieve.
Lacking belief is not being passive or talking about doubt or showing why you doubt . Again silly
Quote:So when someone thinks of "atheist" they are more inclined to think of someone who thinks God doesnt exist,
rather than just someone who doesnt believe nor disbelieve.
And they're wrong
Quote:Is there someone even like that on this forum?
If you mean Gnostics yup they exist here . If you mean the passive silent strawman you created then i doubt it . Because that's not what lacking believe means .
Quote:But when talking about "God" (like the OP did), most people will assume you're referring to THE God.
And they're wrong
Quote:The one that the vast majority of people in the 21st century believe in
And they're wrong
Quote:And you've already said you have disbelief in that God lol.
Nope i don't accept the existence of that god or any other as the evidence has yet to convince me
Quote:So that's what people are going to think of, and that's what people mean when they get the impression that atheists have disbelief in God, rather than just not believing or disbelieving.
Then they are not very bright .
I don't feel any depression at the idea that death is the end .

This is good, but it's selfish reason to want God to exist. In my mysticism perspective, we have to love God for it's own sake. That it is, you should want the being to exist because you find it would be the greatest thing to exist and that you want it to exist for it's own sake, whether it benefits you or it doesn't.
This is what depressed me most when I stop believing. I even wrote it about here in a thread, that I was so happy for God's sake that it existed, and when I believed it didn't, it hurt me like crazy.
More then people dying and disappearing for good.
And if you can understand that love for that being itself, you are on the way to seeing you have a connection to that being's existence which drives you to know it, and the connection is called in this world "love" on your part, so all you got to do is connect through that through the connection to God.
Your part of the connection is love. And I hope you are underway to see God through that vision.

I’m tired of your preaching. I’d be interested to see a response from you to what I posted in your, “why am I here?” thread, because THIS response is a good example of what I’m talking about there.

I can't take reading it anymore, it's making me feel ill. He could at least confine it to his own threads. He's just a standard religious spammer now.

Define spam. And define preaching. I need to get a clear understanding of it to avoid it really. I don't come here to preach. But you guys are constantly preaching to me in a sense, you keep telling me, I'm dishonest, I'm irrational, etc, and just assert I haven't proven anything over and over again.
I see more preaching by Atheists and not much reasoning from them to be honest. It's like when all reason turn it's tide and began to shift towards believers side, you guys are resorting to bullying type behavior.
It's sad really.
