Well, I have no way of knowing if it is instead the skeptics who are intelligent people clinging to the stupid idea that we are just biological machines with only one life to live or if it is instead the paranormal researchers who are clinging to a stupid idea. Again, I think it requires full research in order to determine who is the intelligent person clinging to a stupid, false idea. Or maybe there are shortcuts that we can use to determine this. I really don't know. I am, for now, just arguing against the idea that we can use shortcuts.
Biological machines = Backed by evidence
Magical souls and further lives = No evidence
It's pretty simple. There's no need to say we're only biological machines. Sceptics don't usually claim to know everything and to have discounted every other possibility. They just weigh their positive belief in accordance with the evidence. Maybe other stuff is going on, maybe not. The time to believe it is when there is evidence, not when the alternative makes people uncomfortable. That guy I watched on YouTube was ranting about nihilism and such, and he seems to have the theistic mindset that only eternal/external values are of any value.
