Actually that's total ignorant bullshit. Christians were warring against each-other from the get go, as the Roman writer Ammianus put it: "No wild beasts are so hostile to mankind as are most of the Christians in their savagery toward one another."
The different branches of Christianity were in open war with each other, since most of them vied to be the only official one, and dismissed their rivals as heresies. Whenever one of them had been in power, Christians belonging to any other faction were persecuted just as much as pagans were.
No i wasn't saying war ended. Christianity like all religions came through the sword. I am saying the reason it gained popularity was because the poverty struck people had more of a purpose in it which they didnt in the roman world and that it just is easier as a system having one god than severals, its unifying to say the least. Of course political clashes and wars based on religious beliefs or ideologies was gonna be a thing.
